Dr. rer. nat. Stephan Großwig
Dr. rer. nat. Stephan Großwig

Stephan Großwig studied Physics at the Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena (FSU) from 1975 until 1980. This followed a position as Research Assistant at the Department of Physics at the same university from 1980 until 1988. In 1989 he became Head of Department at the Central Institute for Physics of the Earth of the East German Academy of Sciences in Berlin. In 1992 he worked as Research Assistant at the Earth Research Centre of Potsdam, Jena department.

As one of the founding partners and controlling shareholder of the company he has the sole power of representation as Managing Director since 1993.

Since 1995 Dr Großwig has been a member of the advisory council at the Sensor Technology Centre in Middle Saxony at the University of Applied Sciences Mittweida. Furthermore, since 1999 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Research Institute for Civil Engineering and Pipeline Construction (FITR) in Weimar.

Dipl.-Ing. Andrea Senze

Andrea Senze studied Geotechnical Engineering at the Technical University of Freiberg (Mining Academy) and at the NTNU Trondheim in Norway from 1993 until 1998.

Having joined GESO in 1998, she first worked as a Research Assistant administering projects and since 2003 she has been responsible for the entire project management of the company.

Being the authorised representative, she is a member of the Executive Board.

Biljana Seibold
Biljana Seibold

Biljana Seibold is a trained Industrial Business Management Administrator and worked as an Accountant in a telephone company for 5 years.

Since 2006 she has been working at GESO as the Management Assistant and is responsible for the company accounting.

Dipl.-Phys. Bernhard Vogel
Dipl.-Phys. Bernhard Vogel

Bernhard Vogel studied Physics at the University of Rostock from 1965 until 1970. Between 1970 and 1984 he worked as a Research Assistant in the Ministry of Defence of the former East Germany responsible for managing military technology research and development in the optical industry. From 1984 until 1990 he was Head of a Development team at the research centre of Carl Zeiss JENA.

Working for GESO since 2001, he has been responsible for Marketing, Technical Equipment and Software.

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Eckart Hurtig
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Eckart Hurtig

Eckart Hurtig studied Geology at the University of Greifswald from 1953 until 1958. In 1958 he moved to Leipzig and initially worked at the East German company VEB Geophysics until 1961, then moving on to the Institute for Geophysical Research at the University of Leipzig. From 1971 until 1981 he was Head of Department at the Central Institute for Physics of the Earth of the East German Academy of Sciences in Berlin where he was appointed Professor for Geothermal Energy in1978. At the same academy, he worked as the Assistant Manager from 1981 until 1989 at the Department of Research in Physics of the Earth and Astrophysics. He became Director of the Central Institute of Physics of the Earth between 1989 and 1991. In 1992 he managed the project ‘Geothermal Fields’ at the Earth Research Centre of Potsdam.

Since 1993 he has been working for GESO as Senior Scientist in Marketing, Sales and Research and Development.

Adam Kozłowski
Adam Kozłowski

Adam Kozłowski studied Marketing and Management at the University in Torun and at the University in Rostock from 1997 to 2003. After his study he was employed as a customer adviser in Polish and German companies. He was responsible for full support of clients from the heavy industry. He speaks three foreign languages. Currently in GESO he is responsible for marketing and sales in Poland.

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Kurt Nawrotzki
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Kurt Nawrotzki

Kurt Nawrotzki studied Mathematics at the Humboldt University of Berlin from 1955 until 1960. Between 1960 and 1967 he worked as Research Assistant at the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics at the East German Academy of Sciences in Berlin. During that time he studied for 1 year, 1962/63, at the Lomonossow University of Moscow. In 1968 he started to work at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, where he became a University Lecturer in 1969 and was appointed Professor for the Department of Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics in1971. From 1986 until 2002 he worked at the University of Potsdam as a Lecturer.

Since 2002 he has been working at GESO as Senior Scientist in Research and Development.

Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Thomas Pfeiffer
Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Thomas Pfeiffer

Thomas Pfeiffer studied Precision Engineering at the College of Engineering and Scientific Instrumentation in Jena from 1984 until 1989. Between 1989 and 1991 he worked at Jenoptik Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH being responsible for vacuum technology service. From 1992 until 1993 he managed a team working on vacuum technology for a medium-sized service company. Having completed further training in MEP Engineering in 1994, he worked for 5 years at an engineering firm for Building Services Engineering.

He has been working at the Department of Sensor Technology and Data Measuring Service at GESO since 2000.

Ing. Ralf Grunwald
Ing. Ralf Grunwald

Ralf Grunwald studied Mechanical Engineering, specialising in machine renovation and maintenance at the College of Engineering in Bautzen from 1988 until 1991. After his studies he worked as a technical engineer for the Police in the state of Thuringia. In 1993 he successfully completed a vocational training for Occupational Health and Safety Officer at the TÜV Academy of Thuringia. (TÜV= Technical Inspection Authority)

Since 2000 he has been working for GESO at the Department of Sensor Technology and Data Measuring Services and is also manager of logistics, maintenance and supplies.

Martin Friedewald
Martin Friedewald


Martin Friedewald trained to be a precision mechanic at the company of Carl Zeiss JENA from 1972-1974. Between 1974 and 2002 he worked in assembly and quality control at various companies dealing with scientific and technical equipment manufacturing.

Since 2003 he has been working at the Department of Sensor Technology and Data Measuring Service at GESO.

Hans-Jürgen Rücker
Hans-Jürgen Rücker

Hans-Jürgen Rücker trained to be a skilled worker for mining technology from 1982 until 1984 and worked underground until 1989 in the former Wismut uranium Company as a miner qualified to use explosives and training others.

From 2004 until 2007 he undertook further training to become an IT application specialist, whereby the qualification was awarded by the IHK (the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce).

Since 2007 he has been working in our company at the application and Development Department being responsible for the Measuring Equipment and Software Development.
