The products being developed by GESO are based on the fibre optic Distributed Temperature Sensing Technology (DTS). This technology provides temperature readings along the length of an optical fibre with a high temperature resolution as well as a high spatial resolution. The temperature is measured simultaneously at regular intervals of normally 1 meter over the whole length of the fibre; the temperature over each metre being averaged.>

Advantages of the Measurement Technology

  • No interference with the temperature field when measuring.
  • The sensor cable is inherently electrically passive; therefore it can be used as a temperature sensor in explosion-prone environments as well as in electromagnetic fields.
  • The sensor cable has a very long life span.
  • The cable can be employed in structures which will be inaccessible at a later time.
  • The measuring technology can be used as a temporary installation or as a permanent online monitoring service, which can also be integrated into operation control systems and data logging systems.

Depending on the requirement, the product can be used with the standard software modules or customer specific software modules can be added to the assembly. These can be used for the visualisation of measured data or for integrating the measured data into a higher level control system.
